Objectives of the Programme
The primary aim of the NSS Postgraduate Certificate Programme is to provide students with a robust theoretical and practical foundation in nuclear security science. Drawing from globally recommended curriculums, the programme seeks to equip its students with the necessary skills to face and navigate the present and upcoming nuclear security challenges in Nigeria and the surrounding regions. Successful completion of the programme will lead to the awarding of a Postgraduate Certificate in Nuclear Security Science.
Admission Requirements
To qualify for this programme, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of a Third Class Honours (or its equivalent Higher National Diploma (HND)) in Engineering, Sciences, or Medical Sciences from a recognised University or Polytechnic.
Notably, work experience in a related field may be considered in lieu of academic qualifications. Moreover, this opportunity is also open to qualified foreign students, with all courses taught in English.
It is advisable for candidates to undertake free pre-admission online modules from Texas A&M University (TAMU) in Basic nuclear and atomic physics, Nuclear fuel cycle, and Basic radiation detection. Duration and Schedule of the Programme
The NSS Postgraduate Certificate Programme adopts a modular approach, spread over 16 weeks. The programme includes 10 taught courses, industrial visits, and the submission of an individual Term Paper. Each course consists of 32 hours of lectures and a 2-hour examination.
